Guidelines for Guild Representatives

NCQC has 4 meetings each year. If a guild representative is unable to attend a meeting it is recommended that a substitute be sent to ensure that the guild does not miss the valuable information presented. Guild representatives are always welcome to bring along other guild members who are interested in the subject of the meeting.

Written information for each guild is placed in a mailbox at the rear of the meeting room. Guild representatives are urged to pick up their mail at each meeting; doing so will save postage for NCQC.

Quilt show and workshop presenters are given space to leave their brochures or other literature for any interested members to pick up and share with their home guilds.

At the January and July "Meet the Teachers" meetings about 30 teachers and lecturers introduce themselves and make a brief presentation of their work. Guild program and workshop chairpersons and shop owners are encouraged to attend these meetings for the purpose of selecting artists they may wish to hire. After the formal meeting there is an opportunity to talk individually and informally with the presenters.

The April and October meeting topics address various issues of interest to the quilting community. Past topics have been Opportunity Quilt Marketing, Guild Challenges, and Putting On A Quilt Show. There is often a thought provoking exchange of ideas among attendees after the formal presentation.

The guild representative is responsible for dispersing NCQC meeting information to their fellow guild members and at their guild board meetings. Most guilds ask their representative to write an article for their newsletter to inform the guild members of NCQC activities and share ideas they gleaned from the meeting that may be of interest to their guild.

NCQC prints a Directory of Membership which includes some pertinent information about guilds, such as when and where they meet, their officers, when the officers change, etc. This type of information may be of interest to members who are marketing their Opportunity Quilt and wish to show it to other guilds. Copies of the directory can be made and distributed as needed.

The NCQC website has a Calendar of quilt shows on which guilds can advertise their own show or find out about other guild's shows.

The NCQC newsletter is sent quarterly via email and may be forwarded to any guild member as needed.

Many guilds reimburse mileage to the NCQC representative for attending meetings; does yours?
