Guidelines for Guild Representatives
NCQChas 4 meetings each year - the 3rd Wednesday of January/April/July and October. If a guild representative is unable to attend a meeting a substitute be sent. Guild representatives are always welcome to bring along other guild members who are interested in the subject of the meeting. Member guilds/shops/museums may leave brochures or other literature for members to pick up at NCQC quarterly meetings.
At the January and July "Meet the Teachers" meetings, about 30 teachers and lecturers introduce themselves and make a 3 minute presentation . Guild program and workshop chairpersons and shop owners are encouraged to attend these meetings to select teachers to hire. Before and fter the formal meeting there is an opportunity to talk individually and informally with the presenters.
The April and October meeting topics address various issues of interest to the quilting community. Past topics have been Opportunity Quilt Marketing, Guild Challenges, and Putting On A Quilt Show. There is often a thought provoking exchange of ideas among attendees after the formal presentation.
The guild representative is responsible for dispersing NCQC meeting information to guild members and/or at the guild board meetings. Many guilds ask representative to write an article for their newsletter to inform guild members of NCQC activities and share ideas they from the meeting . Guilds are encouraged to put a link to NCQC's website in the guild newsletter.
The NCQC website has a Calendar of quilt shows on which guilds can advertise their own show or find out about other guild's shows.
The NCQC newsletter is sent quarterly via email and may be forwarded to any guild member as needed.
Many guilds reimburse mileage to the NCQC representative for attending meetings; does yours?
